Humpday Celebration: 6 Things We Love…

Our apologies for completely spacing on our humpday celebration blog last week! Life distracts us from blogging sometimes. :-X I (Sara) was inspired for this week’s Humpday Celebration post by Pretty Random Things blog. (Side note, if you enjoy our … Continue reading

Humpday Celebration: Favorite UW-Madison Memory

After reading the Buzzfeed of “40 Signs you went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison” and Princeton Review announcing the Top 20 Party Schools, we were a little nostalgic on our time at UW-Madison.  Even though Madison slipped in the ranks, … Continue reading

Humpday Celebration: 10 Things We Miss From The 1990s

We are total children of the 90’s, and frequently discuss what we miss most and wish would make a come back. Since Twinkies and NKOTB made recent come backs, it got us thinking about what other great food/TV/music/inventions disappeared that … Continue reading

Humpday Celebration: Songs for our Weeks!

Well, well, well…it is officially summer for me!! When I ended my spring classes, I started my summer classes 3 days later.  I have to say, that even though I have had classes the majority of the time, it has been one of the best summers ever.  I have done lots of fun stuff including going to Vegas, a Brewers vs. Twins game, visiting Wisconsin, The Color Run, playing on a sand-volleyball league, going out in Minneapolis, and tons of fun stuff around Mankato.

Yesterday was officially my last class of my first year of grad school.  After getting a little speech from one of the professors of my program, it really hit me that life is about to get really exciting! In three weeks we will begin our internships and start doing the work we have been waiting to do for the last 5 years!  I would be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t a little nervous.  I mean, it’s a culmination of a lot of work and I…1. Hope I love it. 2. Am able to survive with the many different obligations I have. 3. Don’t screw up too badly.

So, in my little bit of time off I will be moving up to The Twin Cities.  I am SOOOOO excited to move.  I am sad, of course, because I made a lot of good friends in Mankato and it does feel like a home now. BUT, I will still be back and fourth for school and work.  Right now I am in the process of moving.  I HATE moving and have done so every year for the last 7 years.  I see how much crap I have, and it is honestly shocking.  I am vowing that when I get my stuff unpacked I will purge my closet and get rid of the clothes I haven’t worn since high school.

My song of the week is “Summer in the City” by The Lovin’ Spoonful.  I am so excited to spend August “Livin in the City” and getting to know my way around.  There’s lots of awesome concerts and festivals in August (including the State Fair that will feature the Hanson Brothers…) that I will check out after moving.

-Allie

First, I want to say how happy I am that Miss Allie came up with this awesome idea to do themed, joint posts on Humpday! You can look forward to many more posts like these to come. Second, I am so happy that Allie chose “Song for the Week” for this week’s theme…

…because, quite honestly, it has been a really tough two weeks for my family. I often find it hard to express my emotions during hard times, so I chose a song that I felt encompassed what I feel but cannot say.

I do have to say, though, that as hard as it is to deal with life’s adversities, it always makes me appreciate the love and support that exists within my family. I am so grateful every single day to have the family I do, and I cannot wait for this weekend when we will all be together!

So, with that said, my song of the week is “Amen Omen” by Ben Harper.

Amen omen, can I find the strength within…
